ASSISTANT ESTATE MANAGER

Full-Time, Permanent

LOCATION: Country property, approximately 20 minutes south of Calgary, and a property in SW Calgary

REPORTING TO: Estate Manager

TYPE: Full-Time, Live-In

RESPONSIBILITIES:

On behalf of our private family client, Chinook Valley Inc., we are looking for an Assistant Estate Manager. This position is an integral member of the Chinook Valley team.  we are searching for an enthusiastic and dedicated live-in Assistant Estate Manager. This position will work within a larger estate team, and the successful candidate for the position will have a high level of attention to detail, accountability, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Flexible working hours are required for this position, and on call assistance is essential. Given this role will span over multiple households within Calgary, the duties would be similar in all locations.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Driving of family members in their vehicles when required, to and from office, appointments, and other engagements, as requested;
  • Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of vehicles, including gassing and washing;
  • Act as first point of contact for visitors to the estates;
  • As this position lives on-site, it is on call and the first point of contact for after hours and weekend maintenance support and alarms for multiple properties;
  • Responsible for daily property checks, maintenance, and general operation of multiple properties, ensuring all properties are kept in impeccable condition;
  • Some assistance with events and family functions, which may include barbecuing, serving, and post-function clean up;
  • Errands as assigned by the Estate Manager and other designated staff members and family;
  • Assist the Residential Coordinator with preparation for travel;
  • Assist the greater Estate staff when required (for example with snow removal, household, and vehicle maintenance, and/or housekeeping);
  • Provide backup to the Estate Manager, when required, which could include scheduling and coordinating with electrician, plumbers, and other contractors as necessary; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To meet the challenge of this role, we are seeking an extremely organized self-starter with outstanding people skills. The successful candidate for this role will need to be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be outgoing, polite, and energetic.  In addition, this individual will be able to work independently with minimal supervision, has a strong work ethic, and be able and willing to work weekends and evenings, if required.

Other qualifications include:

  • Be service oriented, polished, professional, energetic, courteous, and accommodating to all clients, staff, guests, and outside service personnel;
  • A background in the hospitality or medical field would be considered an asset, with the ability to react quickly to all types of situations;
  • Must be adaptable and flexible and willing to be on-call;
  • Exceptional attention to detail is a must;
  • Possess a great attitude and strong communication skills both verbally and written;
  • First-aid certification (training is available);
  • Experience with property maintenance considered an asset;
  • Experience with successfully working within a larger team is necessary;
  • Being able to troubleshoot IT issues within the properties considered an asset;
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history;
  • Holding a valid passport considered an asset as some travel may be required;
  • Some heavy lifting may be required (up to 50 – 70 pounds);
  • Successfully complete a criminal and credit background check as well hold a clean driver’s abstract; and
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
