Hours: Full-Time, Permanent

Reporting to: President/Owner

On behalf of a client, we are seeking a Groundskeeper to work at their private ranch. The Groundskeeper is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and overall upkeep of the land surrounding the client’s private ranch, as well as maintaining surrounding structures such as the barns, and ensuring the area remains in excellent condition at all times. The Groundskeeper will ideally be mechanically inclined, and the successful candidate will also demonstrate a high level of initiative, flexibility, and reliability, have a superb attention to detail and be always highly professional.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Groundskeeping
    • Landscaping:
      • Lawn maintenance.
      • Irrigation repairs and maintenance.
      • Support for the gardener, where required, in areas such as weeding and ensuring the irrigation is in working order.
    • Snow removal:
      • Clear the main driveway with the use of a plow truck.
      • Use of smaller tools such as snowblowers and shovels for walkways.
    • Ensure general tidiness of all areas of the grounds at all times.
  • General security:
    • Ensure the main gate is in working order at all times and upkeep where needed.
    • Check the grounds for any leaks or other issues.
  • General support:
    • Act as the main point of contact for other renters.
    • Occasionally assisting the family with errands such as driving them to the airport or picking up items or deliveries.
    • Maintain the surrounding property including tidying the barn and shop.
    • Some high-level vehicle maintenance may be required.
    • Ensure the car and garage are clean and kept tidy.
  • Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.


In addition to the above details, other qualifications include:

  • Have a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a related position.
  • Must have high attention to detail and be able to problem solve effectively.
  • Being mechanically inclined is considered an asset.
  • Ability to lift 60+ pounds and perform physically repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to take initiative.
  • Follow instructions precisely and adhere to established routines, processes, and procedures.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Own reliable transportation and hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
  • Be courteous, discreet, honest, reliable, and responsible.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible.
  • Must possess a positive attitude.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
  • Successfully complete a criminal and credit back check process.
