INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTANT – CORPORATE REPORTING

The Role:
Location: Calgary
Hours: Full time
Reporting to: Manager of Corporate Accounting
On behalf of our client, a prominent family operating business, we are looking to fill their need for a Corporate Accountant. The Corporate Accountant is responsible for the internal and external reporting of the company’s Canadian and US operations. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, detail oriented, flexible, adaptable and work well with little oversight. The Corporate Accountant will enjoy the opportunity to gain unique experience and apply their knowledge base in a small high performing team.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly Financial Statement packages for various companies;
- Year-end Financial Statements and note disclosure for various companies;
- Assist in preparing quarterly the Board and Audit Committee packages, including Financial and MD&A summaries and charts;
- Prepare and review routine and non-routine journal entries for month-end processes;
- Prepare journal entries for acquisitions and real estate related transactions;
- Calculate, post, and reconcile monthly interest accruals, amortization of fees, principal, and interest payments on the company’s long-term debt;
- Calculation and completion of required reporting of the quarterly and annual bank covenants
- Complete bank and corporate account reconciliations; and,
- Support year-end audit process and audit requirements.
Management Accounting:
- Assist with the annual budget process; and,
- Summarize large amounts of data to analyze key performance indicators.
Qualifications and Preferred Skillset:
- In the CPA designation program with at least 2 years of relevant experience;
- A good understanding of ASPE and IFRS;
- Advanced Excel skill level;
- Strong knowledge of systems including ERP (Microsoft Dynamics, PeopleSoft, etc.);
- Successful back check process for both criminal and credit;
- Highly organized, detail oriented and adaptable;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Highly proficient with Word and Excel and an understanding of accounting systems;
- Ability to quickly and efficiently adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines consistently;
- Strong team player;
- Ability to work independently with little oversight; and,
- Ability to adapt to new technology and the continuous improvement of processes.
